Case Studies Explore Progress and Costs of Energy Technologies in Alaska

The current state and cost of renewable energy technologies in Alaska鈥檚 remote communities has been documented in a series of published in the Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy.

The articles, coordinated by ACEP Research Professor Erin Whitney and written by ACEP researchers, were developed to support the 黑料社appEnergy Authority in its development of an 黑料社appAffordable Energy Strategy. The intention was to determine what targeted energy technology development solutions could be implemented in 黑料社appto make energy more affordable.

The collection of articles is the first compilation of technology and cost reviews on the state of wind power, energy storage, diesel engine, biomass, solar photovoltaic, heat pump, and organic Rankine cycle technologies in Alaska. Also included are the cross-cutting topics of electrical transmission and integration.
