Provost Recruitment and Committee
April 16, 2025
It was with a lot of gratitude and some sadness that I shared with you several weeks ago that Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Prakash announced her retirement effective May 31. We are deeply grateful for her exemplary leadership and years of dedicated service to the ºÚÁÏÉçapp. Her contributions have strengthened our academic mission and enriched the entire university community.
In preparation for this transition, we are launching a national search for the next provost and executive vice chancellor. This search will be guided by a broadly represented search committee composed of faculty, staff, and students - including representatives nominated by our governance groups. My goal is to have the search launched before many faculty go off contract later next month. We will begin the review of applications in the fall when those faculty who were off are back on contract. My hope is to have the search wrapped up before the end of December with a permanent provost on board either at the beginning of the spring semester or the new fiscal year (July 1, 2026).
To ensure continued leadership during the interim period, I am accepting nominations (including self-nominations) for an interim provost and executive vice chancellor. I will accept nominations through Monday, April 21. I expect to appoint an interim by May 1 so that we may have a successful transition on May 31. Nominations should be submitted via this .
Please join me in thanking Provost Prakash for her outstanding service.
