As online educational opportunities expand and technology improves, we are too. Our department now offers several online lab courses such as:

We are constantly working to expand our online offerings so that you can gain exceptional knowledge for your degree in chemistry, biology, engineering, and more.  Anytime and anywhere.

 

Organic Chemistry I

Our online Organic Chemistry I and II courses come with a customized lab kit so you can perform experiments at home and get the most out of your education. The course is fully online with weekly modules and follows a self-paced schedule. It can be completed anywhere in the U.S. Lab kits cannot be shipped internationally. 

Experiments include:

  • Use of  Molecular Modeling Software  for structure analysis
  • Nuclear Magnetic Spectroscopy, with processing of real spectra
  • Infrared Spectroscopy interpretation
  • Thin Layer Chromatography
  • Crystallization 
  • Synthesis of Ethers
  • Dehydration of Alcohols
  • Reduction of Camphor, a natural product.

 

 

Academic Advising

Your academic advisor is an incredibly useful resource and will help guide you in your course selection, plans for graduation, academic struggles, questions, and goals. When you first start in the program, your advisor will with First-Year Advising, after that the wonderful and amazing Amy Wald. 

Amy is the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics undergraduate advisor and can help you plan your degree, understand transfer credits, connect you with potential mentors, provide resources for career planning, and more.

  CNSM Undergraduate Advisor
Amy Wald is the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematic's undergraduate advisor. She will help you register for classes and support you through the first several semesters of your undergraduate degree. She is a wonderful resource for registering for classes, degree planning, and understanding academic policies here, at UAF.
